Intake Plug Sizes ?
« on: Jul 10, 2007, 04:24:42 PM »
Does anybody know the diameter and thread pitch of the plug holes in the 22R intake. These are the holes where some emissions valves once went. I no longer need the valves because Im running a Webber carb. I would like to plug these holes to clean up the engine. Check the pic to see what Im talking about.

Also Im aware that LC sells a plug kit but I dont want to pay 20 bucks plus shipping for a few plugs.

3/8 pipe thread IIRC...not 100% though.  One of them might be a straight thread/oring seal...

arent those coolant temp sensor holes?

im thinking you can go to the junkyard and get them for near nothing by scavenging different trucks, my 85 has at least 1 of those on the manifold... the way my 84 was supposed to be setup had a vacuum valve there....

Yes you need vaccume lines but you dont need all the factory stuff when you switch to an aftermarket Webber carb. These were the holes for the bvsv valve and some other emmisons related valve.

Ok thanks for the help everybody but I figured it out myself. Went and picked some up from the hardware store and got lucy just eyeballing them. So here are the correct sizes if anybody wants to save some money and not buy the kit from LC.

There are three holes on the 22R intake by the waterneck and the sizes are as follows 2 are 3/8 NPT national pipe thread and the largest one is 1/2 NPT.
