I have acquired my next tow rig. She is a 1993 D150 with 360 and 4spd auto. Extra cab long bed. Only half ton, but it has the 9.25 rear and is set up with controller, wiring for both style plugs, tires rated for 1875# at 44psi, good tread. The chassis has 85k on it, the motor has 60k, it is from a 95 truck. The original overheated and this guys father in-law bought it cheap. He is a Dodge mechanic, replaced the engine, etc. Has a couple small rust spots at rear wheel wells, frame is good, interior is clean AC blows COLD! Has a modest stereo system installed. Much better mileage than the Beast. NADA book is about $3500...I am paying $2800.

Not bad. Just look forward to getting some 16" wheels and some 10 ply tires the help haul the beast! The half ton should work good for ya.

I will be using a WD hitch for towing the trail rig so I will see how the tires on there do. They have enough load rating to handle the tongue weigh, it will likely be a question of wear. Maybe have to get some bling 16's and body drop it.

It has the big chrome grill, it is VERY clean, and it has tons of power. I was surprised how peppy that 360 is. Lots of room for improvements as well. Headers, etc. It is bone stock except for a new exhaust system.

years ago I put a 318 top end on a 360. made realy good lower and mid range power. helped the milage too.
upper range not so good. butt for towing who cares?

Nice idea Brainless, but this thing is in great running shape. I am not touching that motor unless absolutely necessary.

Picked it up after work tonight. PO threw in a WHOLE BUNCH of extra goodies I really didn't want...
This tool box is filled with Dodge parts...junk I have to toss now.

Extra door panels?

Nice rig, my Durango has the 360 and my van did too, it is a very strong engine and should pull good for you. I sold the van to a friend and he loves it will pull the steepest hills while towing his 4Runner or Truggie on his trailer at no less than 45mph. Should be a lot more affordable than that tank. My Durango is awesome even more power than the van, I chipped it and can smoke the tires off, even in 4wd.

Who makes good performance parts for the 360...chips and such?

This is the first year for MPI so it is injected and computer controlled.

Tossed every piece of junk outta that box and the truck and then ran outta paint. Amazing what a little hammer paint can do though.

Good thing hammer paint says right on the can you can paint over rust. I didn't want to spend a second more than necessary on that dirty ole tool box. It will make a good place to store tie downs and chains and such though.

Shoot, can't even tell it is the same tool box! Should be good for storing all my tie downs and crap. Not too bad. And those old Ramcharger wheels cleaned up OK too.

I bought the first goodies for the tow rig. Needed new shocks and the rear springs are kinda wimpy too so thought I would try these. Made by Gabriel, from JCWhitney. They seem ok from looking at them.

I've used those before to beef up a tow rig for towing a trailer they do work.

Easy as kake to install...lifted the rear about an inch and the ride is SO much better. Now I need to do the front shocks. The old ones were just flopping in the breeze when I pulled them.
