Starter flat spot.

Solution, hit starter with something.

Yes, i had this problem with my 91. I hit it with a wrench and it would start just fine. But it wouldn't be but a few days later it would start doing it again.

You have two choices, either replace your starter or keep it untill it dies. I opted to change mine since it took a crap on me while wheelin...

The contacts are pretty cheap through toyota, I'd buy them and do a tear down and replace them.  Also a good time to check for a loose connection

When I did my engine conversion, I replaced my starter contacts before I even used the engine itself!

Old contact on the left, new one on the right. Good thing I replaced it when I did, or I would have the same problem as you. You most likely only need ONE new contact. The main hot side usually wears out 2 or 3 times faster than the opposing contact.

Picture is from Page 9, Reply #290 of my original build-up thread.

I had a truck that had a wiring problem within the ignition due to the bozo that installed the antitheft starterkill for the alarm.
Also had the starter go, like others.  Replacing contacts is always a good idea.  Quick, simple, cheap, and a very common reason for that problem.  You'll know it for 100% sure if it does, in fact, start when a friend whacks the starter with a hammer.

If those are denso, then it's factory Toyota, right?  Seems cheaper than what I paid at the dealership.  Also, for the plunger:  I just hit it with the wire wheel.  They don't give you a new plunger when you get the kit at the dealership.
