SASing 2nd Gen. 4runner
« on: Nov 15, 2008, 06:06:23 PM »

Well I just picked up an axle the other day and going to to be rebuilding it this week. I will replace all bearings and seals, then buy a marlin SAS and rear suspension kits. The axle I got is a is from and 85 pickup. I am wondering (since I have the axle stripped down should I have a Top gusset on this axle? What about the marlin Knuckle ball gussets, I don't understand how those shocks mount? could anyone post a pic of the marlin gussets? I think I will put the sky armor on the front diff as I had to pound a dent out of the front cover. Thanks.  :help: :beerchug:

The runner

IFS SUCKS!!

got yourself a mess there.  Cut off the torsion brackett, sway bar brackett and steering shock mount.  I prefer trail gears shock/knuckle gusset.  It's a much better design.  Marlins is simply a spacer you put through the shock bolt then gets mounted to the flat piece. (one sided support).  Axle truss is optional unless you'll do serious wheeling or especially jumping.  Get the knuckle gussets fo sho!

Yeah, thanks I cut off the torque bracket, sway bars brackets. I ordered Trail gear's creeper gusset as It appears to have a better shock mount. Other than that I will Order my other stuff from MC. I am going to get marlins complete knuckle rebuild & wheel bearing kit.

yeah, about that, on new year's eve I got into an accident and my rear axle is f*^(ing messed up. I got very little damage in the accident except that my axle was hit and pushed back. Im sure (or hoping) that my frame isn't messed up. It was my DD and I have run out of money for my SAS. I am planning on starting it at least by may. My axle is ready to go but right now it is put on hold. I'll get pictures of the 4-runner tommorrow. Thanks
