22RE rebuild kits
« on: Mar 20, 2007, 07:28:23 PM »
I dropped the engine block and crank off at the machine shop today.
Tomorow they'll tell me if I need to bore it out or just hone it for new rings.

If it needs to be bored, I'll need new pistons and such.  Has anyone used one of the kits off ebay or 22re.com?  Theses kits go for 250-300 dollars and contain pretty much everything.  Just wondering if I'd be wasting my time trying to save a buck.

Thanks

John

I have had success with ENGNBLDR.com, his online tech support and integrity have been top notch. :clap2:

Make sure they don't grind too much off of the crankshaft in the rear.  I bought a rebuilt 22RE shortblock and I've replaced my rear main seal with less than 500 miles on the engine.  Guess what, it still leaks

Got word from the machine shop today.  Block has previously been bored .040, crank turned .010.  All that is needed is a hone and the crank polished.  Not buying new pistons should save me a couple $$$
