Starter Rebuild Kits
« on: Sep 12, 2010, 09:24:17 AM »
Anyone know a US source for the following? Victory Lap Starter repair kit part number NDS-01S ? For Toyota 22R series engines. I'd like to repair my original Toyota starters rather than trade them out for crappy Auto Zone units, but it seems these kits are only available in Mexico?

Probably just need the copper contacts in the solenoid and maybe the brushes.    (http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Starter.shtml#OnlineOrdering (post #2) in thread mentioned above).   Brushes are at lots of places.

I used 2 type D's in my 86 (4crawler), and didn't have to trim them (my brushes were still good after 20 years)

(I put solenoid in a drill press and cleaned up the round copper contact with a file)

The bearings should still be good.
