The OFFicial Slacker Buildup.....
« on: Feb 04, 2007, 01:37:35 PM »
to start off with heres a little information about my self....im just a 19 year old kid and i just started livin on my own.... i do construction for the city/county of sacramento and kinda didnt have a place to wrench on my junk so i looked and looked and found a small 1200 sq.ft shop for a pretty smokin deal....

Got tired of workin in a little 1 car garage that a  dana 60 couldnt even squeeze in... so here is my buildup..

its a 1984 toyota ex cab.

iheres the deal...
yota started life bone stock with some oakiefied camo paintjob....i think the windshield even got some pisscan lovin....
its got a tired ol 22re in it that im gonna swap out

Front axle
gm dana 60
plans:
Full hydro
5.38s
Arb
welderbilt knuckles
3/4ton brake adapters

REar axle
??? ford rear 60
Great lakes offroad discbrake adapters
Ruffstuff specialties 60 swap kit....
plans: 35 spline with 538s spooled

Tranny.... rebuilt w56
Tcases??? hopefully a dual ultimate kit.... maybe marlin maybe trail gear? dont know yet

future plans for a full exo

Kinda building the rig right now on a tight budget due to winter slow down in construction but sooner or later i will get around to finally wheelin her when work picks up...

built the front drop hanger out of 1/4"plate and some 2x4

I liked how the formula toyotas were doing their rear shackle hangers so i decided i would jump on the bandwagon.....

this is the insight for the buildup.... im tired of changing out birfields... i hate workin on toy axles so i figured if im gonna build a rig that is strictly trailer queened i figured i would do it right...no 1/2 ton 44 front here...its all about the 8 lug 60s....

Here is the front 60 ... hopefully i can get this thing up and running for memorial day weekend.... i think im gonna be goin up to reno and hittin up some of the canyon trails with a few fellow wheelers from the area....

front 60 was caked in mud and grease...hopefully with tax returns it should be enough to take care of the arb and all of the gearing hopefully.... Im gonna take the front in to Sean at river city diff to setup the arb and the 5.38s...im gonna do the rear myself with one of my shop neighbors.... plus the rear is jsut gettin a spool and im gonna call it good..

Rears got Greatlakes offroad disc brake adaptors...  I ordered a Rear axle 60 swap kit from ruff stuffspecialties...it came with perches, ubolt plates and ubolts...its saved me a lot of time just runnin 20 minutes from my house then allover the place to get steel and drill bits and all of the unwated bs that usually comes with makin simple stuff....

Are you in the same shop as NOODLES? I know he is over in that same area. Who do you work for with the city/county? I work for the city in the utility's department, working on the water system. I like the way your build is going also. Cant wait to see some more progress pic's.

Wow I don't want your job! Talk about the most disgusting jobsite ever. I worked wastewater for a summer, the job wasn't bad except for the lift stations.
