Differential Bearing Cap Bolts locks
« on: Dec 31, 2006, 03:23:46 PM »
OK....I did a bonehead move.  I took out my front 3rd member and installed my Aussie locker during my Birfield repack/rebuilds.  I put it all back together and noticed I forgot to install the Cap Bolt locks on the Differential Bearing caps.  Am I hosed?  I torqued everything per the manual.  I really don't feel like pulling it all back apart again if I will be OK just to run it as is.

Thoughts?  I'll install them when I put my Longs in this spring.  Can I get by until then?

Crap!   :smack:

Are you talking about the lash adjuster locks?  If so I would yank that back apart or you are gonna have issues.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Groan...back out it comes.  Can I just take the high steer arms and wipers off the back of the bells and pull the whole axle out just far enough to drop the 3rd member oot?

Did the Camo method and pulled out the birfs.  That works pretty well.  Put the Lash Adjuster locks back on and Locktite on the Cap bolts.  All is well.  Thanks for the help.
