Where to get an intake??
« on: Dec 03, 2006, 12:31:59 PM »
Can anyone recomend a good place to buy an intake/high flow air filter for my 85 4runner, 22re. I don't need the intake manifold just an intake kit. Thanks

Can I order from them online or do I have to buy the catalog?????, Do you know if the 88 model will work for the 85? 88 is the oldest they go. Also how much do they run?
Thanks

Holy carp they want $190 for that.  I think you can get the bracket deal for a cone filter off ebay or at autozone or something, maybe someone else can post up a link or pic or something.

lc is top notch... but you can piece together your own from ebay cheap...... if it will work on an 88 22re, it will work on a 85

x2, just invest in a good header/exhaust set up, much better performance than intake for a 22re. Personally I think these things are engine killers. I only run OEM filters. but thats just my opinion what do i know?

Agreed.  These trucks aren't choked up enough stock to truly benefit from an aftermarket intake.  Buy a drop in k&n if you want to, but I'd definately treat the exhaust out side if you want a feelable gain.

will that pass visual smog inspection? anyway, i like the stock filter also...k&n will let little bits in while the stock stuff won't. if you want more air...go for a force induction. but you'll need alot of other stuff too if you go that route...let the force be with you...

Thanks everyone for the pics/posts. Hey boggerunner did you notice a feelable gain when you put that intake on? If it did not increase your power, did it help your MPG???

thanks

my computer in this thing is fuked, so im not gettin 4 cyl gas milage, but it should help, and it did make a diff in the power too, but i also have a pace header with 2.5 exhaust and a free flow turbo muffler with no cat, no smog or emmisions crap in western colorado. if u are gonne let more air in, u gotta let more air out, or it will make no difference
