Stupid IFS Diff ?
« on: Aug 02, 2006, 04:12:51 PM »
I just helped a buddy do a sas on his 92 V6 pickup. He's got 5.29's in the IFS Center section and is giving it to me. I'm wondering if it will bolt in place of my IFS center section on my DD. I've got a 93 4cyl pickup. I know it's a stupid ? but I've only dealt with 8" stuff. I'd just like to get 5th back and not get passed my geo metros. Thanks guys!

Yeah, I think it'll bolt up fine.

That was the nice thing about those they were all the same housing from the beginning of the run until the taco, now you may want to make sure the gearing is the same.

I don't think it will quite bolt up....his is a V6 version....yours is a 4 cyl version....his sidegears in the carrier are 30 spline and yours are 26 or 27 .... I think.  If you can keep the axle stubs on both sides then you might be ok.

should bolt up fine. the cv axles bold to flanges off the center section.
just remove your whole center section and bolt in the 5.29 center.

I picked up the center section over the weekend and it's got what looks like a vacume diconnect attached to the diff. Do I have to worry about that or can I just plug the lines and run it? My axles should bolt right up. Thanks for all the help.
