what front springs to replace to?
« on: May 27, 2006, 05:56:39 PM »
Well, I now have time to work on my 84 Toyota I built years ago.  I had 7'" lift front springs custom made back in 1988 and they have always ridden like a brick even with a 350 under the hood.  I would like to keep about the same ride height to avoid dealing with the ass end and driveline mods.  The arch from the spring pad to the centerline of the eye to eye on the springs is 7" and it's 14.5" from the top of the axle tube to the bottom of the frame.  The eye to eye on the shackle is 6.5".  I'm looking at Marlins 5" springs or the Rancho 44044's with a drop hanger.  I believe the Marlins have a spring rate of about 215 lbs/in which the 44044's have 300 lbs/in.  If I went with Marlins, would I need to get an add a leaf for the extra weight?  Any other suggestions on front springs without going custom would be appreciated.

marlins are set   for the stock drivetrain,  you can  get a set of his springs  and add a couple F150 leaves to the pack  but you wont get more than 5 inches of lift,  not that you need more than that,  unless you want to spin 44's
