« on: Apr 22, 2006, 05:07:19 PM »
has anyone done this or seen it done.  tyring to figure out what to do with the  front rear 10 bolt.  to mount it need to move springs out or cut in to the diff.  what is the easy and most effective way to do it.  if cutting diff don't think i  will be able to get u bolts around it to hold it together.help please :dunno: :help: :hammerhead:

outboard the front springs  dont run the 10bolt rear   run the 12bolt and just redo the perches on the axle.  the front you need the outboard the springs. dont be an idiot and start cutting into the pumpkin. theres a few around here like that and it makes the axle garbage.

I would move the perches in as far as possible without out cutting into the pumpkin, and then out board your springs to mach that width.   The farther in the springs are mounted on the axle = more leverage which = more flex.  I would not waste my time with a 10 bolt or a 12 bolt though, seen to many granade to have any trust in one, and they are not worth the money to build.  I would put money on a stock toy, before a 10 or 12 bolt.  :twocents:

stock toy rears aren't wide enough to run 39.5x15x15swamper's and 60 are to wide for where i go.  so 1/2 ton Chevy rears are the only real option.

I know of alot of people running 40"+ tires with toy rears, so that is not a problem.  I am pretty sure a dana 60 is just about as wide as a 12 bolt, considering they are both full width axles.

guess my 12 bolt is garbage.. :shake:   12bolts will stand up to 40s and bigger in a toyota.  toyota axles just arent wide enough to run a tall tire.. they are strong enough but if you wana use the tire to its full potential..    fullwidth is the way to go.

a dana 60 is the same width as a gm 10-12 bolt, or a gm 14 bolt (the best option)
10 bolts do grenade with a v8 easily, but i havent heard as many bad things about the 12 bolts. the 14 bolt is very strong, far superior to the 10-12, and slightly stronger than the dana 60.

Its got a double drop box up front the first on i did and this one which was made to fit the D60. and in the back i just built some mounts as well and put the shackle on the bottom of the frame for some lift and more flex.
