Any normal gear oil is OK.  The only time different gear oil is required is for some Limited-Slip differentials.  It doesn't matter for locker or spools.
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Thicker oil might make them a bit quieter... :dunno:

this whole new world of axles with lockers and diffrent gears is new to me. out of all 4 trucks ive ever had ive never had either in any of them except my TRD tacoma. even then i only had it long enough to use the locker just for the hell of it mabe 5 times.

ive always gone wherever i wanted to go with open diffs so..... wonder where ill go now that i have lockers, gears, and bigger tires then truck :driving:
