All-pro superflex springs??
« on: Oct 21, 2005, 11:12:47 PM »
Has anyone used the front All-Pro Superflex springs? How do they work and how is the ride? I am in the process of putting Chevies in the rear of my '84 toy right now. I like the superflex spring because they are short and low lift height. Or have any better ideas? I dont want rears in front though....Also I bought Sky's kit for my Chevy swap, how tight do i need to get the shackle bolts? My friend said i dont need to get them too tight because there is a locknut but i dont want them falling off. when i get them too tight they won't move though.
Thanx alot

Eric Hansen of yota masters uses the 3" lift buggy allpro springs, He swears by them.  He has shown me a the difference between the regular 5" vs. the buggy lift.  I myself have the allpro 5" and they work great. Good street ride and flexy offroad.  Next time I will go marlin's because of the quality. From what I've seen,  Marlin's spring packs are nice and straight unlike my allpro, they are uneven. I wanted to sport a taller truck for coolnest factor.  If you search around you'll see eric's truck with alot of great flex.

I have the buggy springs in my truck. I can go flex it for you and take pictures in the next few days. The springs are longer than stock so you will need a new spring hanger. You will need bumpstops also. Mine negative arch really bad otherwise. They flex like crazy though.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

I've got the superflex springs and all pros johnny joint shackle in the rear and I like them.  You have to relocate the front hanger and the rear hanger for the rear ones (just like most every other decent spring).  The ride is pretty decent as far as I'm concerned.  Eric at www.yotamasters.com does run them (the white 85 pickup) also.

Here are the pics and some measurements you asked for...
At max flex (before the truck starts to get light on the rear wheel) there is about 33-34 inches underneath the tire
I think the springs are capable of more but limited by the shocks.
In the rear I'm still running just 10 inch travel Bilstien 5100 shocks on the stock upper mount
In the front I'm running 12 inch travel Bilstien 5100s on the All Pro shock hoops
Underneath the door from the ground to the frame I have approx. 23.5 inches of clearance (35 inch MTR on 15x10 rim)
They ride well, and are pretty soft springs.  The truck does lean a little to the pass. side.  I think this is primarily from the gas tank.  If you have any other questions just ask and I'll post what I can.

Thanks a lot for the pics, how well do the springs control axle wrap.

Axle Wrap
« Reply #11 on: Jan 01, 2006, 02:36:12 PM »
I don't really have much of a problem with axle wrap.  The leaf packs have got alot of very thin leaves (eight I think, without going out to count) and the overall thickness of the pack with so many leaves works to contro wrap pretty well.  Overall they are good springs and I picked them mailnly because while some people have problems with All-Pro,those I have talked to have spoken well of their suspension components.  They also offer little lift, and are a much better engineered spring than something like a skyjacker, rancho, or downey.  I'm happy with them.
