springs
« on: Jul 08, 2005, 05:07:19 AM »
im planing on doing a rear chevy spring conversion, and ive read that alot of people put the rear spring pack in the front.i know the centre bolt is offset so it moves the front axle forward to give the tire more clearance, but is this the only reason?are the rear leaves longer than the front?how many leaves do you run?my rear pack has got 5 leaves + the over load.thanks for the help,
later!

The springs are longer, softer, really flexy, and move the axle 2" forward.
Here is everything you always wanted to know about "Rears up front" but were afraid to ask: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265669

why do they use leaves from differant packs?heres a pic of a standard rear pack out of my truck,do the std trucks over there run the same pack?do you call the overload the small one on the bottom or the next one up that has the bracket that wraps around the rest of the pack?

Remove the bottom 2 leafs from that pack, add 3 more leafs.
You need to add more leafs because the thinner rear leaf is not strong enough to hold the front of the truck up.
If you want you can also add 1/2 a leaf to the top of the pack towards the front for an "Anti-wrap" leaf.

I'm using the 3 that had the most arc.
