ADD Problems
« on: Jul 01, 2005, 04:55:15 PM »
When shifted into H4 or L4, the transfer case engages, and the front driveline moves.  However the 4WD light dosent come on, and the front wheels dont lock in.

sound like a vacume problem?   i hooked up a vacume/presure guage, and got about 15lbs. of vacume

Could this be just dirty stuff in side the axle housing.  and needs a good cleaning and re grease? :beerchug:

I assume your referring to your 4Runner but I had a similar problem with my Ramcharger and found that there is an electric sensor that kept getting knock off keeping from locking the front axle.

Begin by checking the vacume diapharm on the front axle, left hand side.
With the engine running, are you getting vacume to both lines when you shift in and out of 4wd?

The 4wd light will only light when the diapharm moves the shift collar to enguague into 4wd.

There is a vacume resivoir behind the front right inner fender liner.

I have had to replace the two vacume switch valves on the right fender skirt in the past.
