Emissions and performance
« on: Jul 01, 2005, 02:54:46 PM »
By removing or plugging the emission fittings on a 22r do you loose or gain power? I know fuel injection needs emissions sensors and what not to run properly doesnt it?

For example, buying the headers with no emission fittings.

Basically I am trying to decide what parts to buy as far as headers, cam, distributor, and so on.

I am moving to a smog exempt area is why I am wodering all this. Can I remove all the bull crap or not.

Thanks,

Think about it.  Engines didn't have that stuff in the past.  Keep the distributor vacuum advance hooked up, the choke pull off.  Block off the EGR port on the rear of the head.  Should be just fine.
Some idiots are too busy knowing it all, to ever learn anything...

well, if your emissions system is working properly you probably won't notice a difference by removing it.  if it's in poor shape, you may gain some power back if you remove it.
