My New Toy
« on: May 03, 2005, 09:54:40 PM »
This Mac SP 105 was bought in 1976. Only used once and when I got, it still had the fuel from 1976 in it. I took it home, dumped out the old fuel swished some new fuel around in it then dumped that out. I put some good stuff in it and after about 10 pulls...SHAZAM, it fired. Ran rough for a little while then smoothed out real nice. 104cc's of rock and roll. Someday I'll find his big bro, the

36", I'm gonna run a smaller one when I can find one. Parts are a bear to find for these old saws but this one was almost brand new. My old buddy I help out on occasion used it to cut a path through a fallen tree that blocked his driveway.. He said he made maybe 6 cuts then put it away. That was 29 years ago.

that things a classic ! my guess on the bar is 48" does it have a compression release? I've used a Stihl 084 compression release start and when you gave 'er the juice it would pull itsell right out of your hands if you werent hanging on !

edit: oops too late

No compression release. My first yank on the starter created a violent bar wobble. So I put it on the ground and yanked it. My wood cutting buddy has an 084 with a 48", that sumbeech is a MONSTER.

Make sure you'v eaten a case of wheaties berfore using that thing!  I used to use my dad's old homelite to cut our hedges, you talk about gettin' a workout!!!??!? :_order:  :_order:  I would rather had done push ups all day!!  Until a treefaller friend gave us his old stihl 046, I could spend a entire weekend cutting anything and everything and still not get tired!  Put that thing in a museum.  My bro in law has a really old chainsaw that was used in the late 50's when they were still hauling trees out of the tillamook burn, that has a two speed transmission on it.  It takes two men and a small boy to operate it, and he uses it for fun!   :screwy:

I've been thinking  about what I'm gonna do with it. Some old guys on a chainsaw forum said I could get a bundle on ebay. I don't want to sell it and I don't want to bugger it up cutting wood. I may just hold on to it as a conversation piece.

Are there even any trees in Colinga? :dunno:
Only in town brainless, this place is kinda like an oasis in the desert. Lots of trees up in the mountains above Coalinga.
