TPMS
« on: Oct 02, 2020, 10:56:03 PM »
Who has it?  Who cares?  One of mine is bad, told by the dealer when I bought the truck.  It flashes upon start up then goes solid on.

I don't care.  When I get new wheels and tires does anyone know of a problem deleting them?  I air down all the time.  I can live with the light on.

I see it as a waste of money/electronic nanny.

as long as you can live without it and live with the light on, you should be fine IMO. I don't think it will mess with anything else.

Technically the dealer should have replaced it for you.  Its a federal safety feature.  And by law they cannot sell you a vehicle that has a defective safety feature.  I cannot trade in my minivan because I had the ABS deactivated when it failed.  That and they wanted $3000 for a used unit, and another $2000 to install.   :yikes:

If it's illegal to sell with a faulty sensor that makes me wonder what else they didn't check!

I didn't even catch the part about it being the dealer that told you that. Shady.

I'm going to buy new wheels and tires soon.  I'll have to call around to find out if any shops will mount the tires if I don't put back any of the TPMS.

Are the valve stem holes different size than old school?  This is my first vehicle with the this junk.

Good link.  was a great write up too. thanks.

It sounds like the TPMS valve hole is differently sized than plain valves.

Never seen a difference in the size of the hole and I’ve been doin it for over 11 years
