2jzgte swap W56 or R150?
« on: Apr 10, 2016, 02:46:09 PM »
putting a 2JZ-GTE in to my 94 Pickup with a W56 transmition and chain driven dual case set up with stock gears. I am looking for information on using the W56 trans with a w58 bellhousing. Is this a good combination to go with? I am going to be leaving the engine stock except for a set of cams no heavy boost. If so what clutch and flywheel would need to be used and are the input shafts from the W58 and W56 the same length? Is the W56 strong enough. Have also read about using a post 96 R150 V6 Tacoma trans with a Jz series R154 bellhousing and 1Jz clutch and flywheel . Guess the main question is what would be my best combination to go with? Thanks :turtle3:

I think with 2jz, a r series trans may be the best bet, especially if your hard on the skinny pedal

Where were you getting a w56 and a chain case??? That's odd to me. Anyhow... definitely go with either r151 or r150. Personally I would go r 151 because it already has a gear driven 23 spline case behind it and an Uber low 1st gear.

Ive often wondered if a 151 is really neccessary on a motor like that for streetability purposes, its so low it revs out so fast where as a 150 being higher would make it nicer on the street

I've seen it done. It fits. Very tightly but it did work.

How do you over come the long input of the r154 case with out a r154/150 hybrid?
If you see it, its for sale.

Im not sure if a late model r150 bell housing that is 1" longer would make enough difference I will ask Marlin for ya Zippo
