Wheel cylinder
« on: Nov 18, 2015, 06:55:17 PM »
Hello everyone, so I'm almost finished with my build. everything but the rear brakes are done. my drivers side rear brakes have been causing me problems. first i had to replace the wheel cylinder cause it was leaking. I got a new Aisin WC from Napa and installed it, bleed the brakes and tried to install the drum but it wouldn't fit around it. so i opened the bleeder valve to release pressure and i still couldn't fit the drum on. is there more than 1 style of wheel cylinders for the 89 axle?
any help is much appreciated!

You need to crank down the adjuster, put on the drum, and then adjust up the adjuster.

the star adjuster is screwed in all the way and theres a gap in between the pushing fork and the brake shoe. only thing that seems to be stoping it from closing is the wheel cylinder.

Hey everyone thanks for the help!! so after i looked at the cylinder on the other side i found that it had different numbers on it. so i brought the new one back to napa and found out the axle is off a 2 wheel drive truck and the cylinder i bought was for a 4x4. so switched it out and all is well!!!! :gap:
