rubiconrunnerneville's 85 4runner build
« on: May 07, 2013, 11:40:56 AM »
well finally starting a build thread for my 85 sr5 22re 4runner. I bought it back in 04' already lifted with 33s but thats it everything else was bone stock. the first things I did was high steer, 4.88 gears f/r and a spool in the rear, I also ditched the 4" blocks in the rear and built a hybrid ruf using some of the old front lift packs and made the mistake of getting sky-jacker soft ride springs for the rear :smack: the first picture is basily how I got it just got a free set of rims from a buddy and some new tires. the second picture is after all the new set up testing it out. sorry for the crappy pics. like everyone else this will be a slow build do to funds.

before I got the high steer and everything a car u-turned into me causing rocker panel damage so I had to salvage title the 85 thanks insurance  :bull crap: so I sold the stock rear 85 axle and started looking for d60s f/r for it to build it into a trailer queen since I had just got a 86 runner that needed a timing chain done but I didn't feel like doing that so I pulled the motor out of the 85. and was going to build the 86 as a dd/mild wheeler camping vehicle when I got back from school. well while I was in southern california going to school the exhaust and clutch needed to be replaced so I got a complete header back 50 state legal system from downey off-road and a dual friction center force clutch and 30lbs fly-wheel. and one day heading to the grocery store someone pulls out from a parking lot in front of me and I total my 86 runner. so I towed it back to oakland to my parents house and started rebuilding the 85 runner as the dd/crawler thats when I got the high steer and everything. I have the 86 tranny t-case(less miles) and rear axle now with 4.88s under the 85 runner.
