Have you been to the wrecking yards?  I don't think NV has made it illegal to sell used ones like CA has.

Summit Racing(Sparks) has them fairly cheap.

I love how the one for CA is twice as much. But it sucked when I had to buy it.

Yeah I called the wrecking yards but they closed at 1 today and don't open back up till monday. I think I will probably just have to go with a magnaflow one from summit they're $107 and bolt right on...the universals are like $60 but they gotta be clamped on or welded...

EPA considers it a violation of the policy to install a used converter from a salvage yard or
sell it for reuse unless it has been properly tested and labeled. Similarly, it is a violation to install
an untested used converter brought in by a customer, even if the customer insists that the used
converter came off his/her vehicle.

Salvage or junk yards also would be considered liable for causing tampering if they sell
converters that have not been tested or do not meet the requirements outlined in the policy and if the
converters are subsequently installed by parties named in the Clean Air Act as prohibited from
tampering.

I thought those laws were only a CA thing? I might have to read up on the NV laws some more to see if it is possible to buy a used cat at a junkyard. On their website you can search for parts and under the list it has "Exhaust - Catalytic Converter" that you can choose.......

They probably use a generic search engine for parts.

I'd just go and buy a new one, and be done with it.

Unless your like me, who doesn't have to smog!!  :yesnod:  But I do have a gutted out cat on my rig.  Just for looks, because a licensed mechanic can be fined by the feds if he works on a rig that doesn't have one on, if it came from the factory with one.  So, mine is for looks.  :sly:

Most all laws on CATS are federally mandated by the US guberment, not California. Most additional smog requirements have nothing to do with the CAT that are CA compliant. FYI all new CATS have a serial # that must now be recorded and are non transferable to any other vehicle. There are no exceptions if it is aftermarket or oem, it will have its own individual unique # just like the vin on your rig.
