« on: Aug 16, 2011, 05:01:56 PM »
i have a pace setter header on my 22r and it glows red... just wondering if thats normal or if maybe i have my timing advanced to much so it has hotter exhaust gas temps?? because i also have a doug thorley tri y chrome header on my 2wd and it doesnt glow red... i thought maybe because the pace setter is just painted black/ rusty finish.. any advance would be helpful

Actual condition aside, your thorley is made with thicker, better quality tubing and will take longer to reach the temp to make it glow.

Have to say this is a 1st for me.  These 22R/Es dont generate that much heat.  I wouldnt think the timing is the issue.   I would lean more towards your exhaust is restricted causing the heat to stay in the header.  I plugged cat can cause this.
