4runner rear sagging springs
« on: Mar 07, 2011, 09:24:58 PM »
so i know we've all seen it, the saggy rear end of a 1st gen runner., and i know of many ways to correct it, but i heard of a new one this weekend.
i believe, the guy called it a zuki swap or a suki swap, basically, you take a 14" coil spring, and wedge it between the spring perch and the frame in the rear.  now i see where it would work, but doesn't seem... safe? i know bigger trucks do it with air bags and all, but i hadn't heard of this for a runner.

has anyone else heard of this?

it's called a ZUK mod and lots of guys do it. i personally don't really like the idea of it but the people that've done it seem to be happy with it

I've seen it done with one coil on the center of the axle, seems to give you that little extra needed.

I never have had a sag issue except for the stock springs, a good set of springs (non-china) will do the trick. Have the truck weighed on the axles, go to a custom spring company, let them know what you do and what you load in it and have them make a set to match your requirements. It will cost a little more but worth it in the long (sag) run.
