Will these work together? Duals in progress...
« on: Dec 30, 2010, 01:52:00 PM »
Okay guys, I have a 95 4runner with the 3.0 and auto trans. I have an available transfer case from a 92 with the 3.0 and a 5 speed. Will these work to make a dual case setup? If so, please make a simple list of what I would need, thanks.

Sorry, I am so new to this idea, but it dropped in my lap if I want it.

I have no idea if that would work   nor would i waist my time trying to find out .  the chain drive t-case  is not worth the time or effort to even mess with .  I would drop those rt back in someone elses lap    and  get  a  v6 to  4cyl  adapter  and get  gear drive cases

Gee that is funny, that is not what Marlin thinks.

As far a duals, there is not an adapter out there for C-D to C-D that I know of but I do think there is an adapter for a chain drive to a gear drive using the C-D case as the back case.

Here are the adapters for using the C-D cases behind the gear drive cases, either left or right hand drop.

OOP's explained to out well. I did duals behind my auto using two gear drive cases for the simple reason I can have a 4.70 gear set for the back case, which is the prefered method. Oh yeah of course I used all Marlin parts.
As a side note, still waiting to see if someone comes out with a "box for rocks" type reduction box using a chain drive t-case planetary like they do on Jeeps. Maybe then we could find something to do with all those chain drive cases we're replacing. Chain drive cases have a little lower reduction that gear drives, IIRC.

With an auto you really do not need the 4.7 gears in the rear case, the TC works well for crawling.

I agree, I'm not running 4.7's but I wanted that option just in case I need a little more low for maybe bigger tires or something. Just wanted that option.

So what does it take to swap the TC for a gear driven case on the auto transmission? I am pretty sure mine is the 340h.
