Weber 38 dges flooding problem
« on: Dec 04, 2016, 12:39:11 PM »
I bought this brand new like 2 years ago and it's been great, when I bought it I had them send me a jet kit with it also. It starts right up in the morning just great but then if I drive it around and then shut it off for more then 5-10 min it's little hard to get started back up once it does start up she blows some black out, I've tried messing with the mixture screws but dosnt seem like it helps, my buddy's have Weber and there's always starts right up. Just wanting to fix it and get it to start right up and not blow all the black smoke, thinking I probly need to rejet it. Any advice would be awsome thanks!!

Sounds like a needle seat issue.  Webers are finicky about wanting clean air and clean fuel.  Are you running a high quality fuel filter?  What kind of air filter are you using?

Just running the stock Weber air filter that came with it. I've cleaned it couple of times. But still hard to start after sitting for couple of minutes.. Black smoke when it finally starts

my weber has exhibited similar traits and worse. I have done alot of research and was told by many people the webers are also picky on fuel pressure coming in and the fuel pressure from the stock 22r mechanical pump can actually over run the seats for the needle. mine has run extremely rich and  smokes back off start sometimes which it didnt do before.

my solution is to rebuild the stock carb and get rid of the weber, i am tired of messing with it.
