Rubber stop/pad for dual shackle set up?
« on: Nov 10, 2009, 09:23:32 PM »
Hey guys need some help: Just in the middle of installing chevy 63's on my junk with a dual shackle set up. What is the best thing to use to soften the blow between the top shackle and frame once the suspension comes back up?

Most people abandon the idea and just go for regular shackles.  Either or they just live with the slap of steel on steel.

x2

the little round IFS bumpstops should work well and its as simple as drill a hole (3/8"?) thru the frame and tighten the nut on the backside

I ran some bumps off a ifs Chevy 1500 under mine and within one trail run the bump tore in half. I've run metal on metal for over a year and a half and it hardley ever "slaps". Only when you hit a jump or are fully dropped out and the tires are like spinning/hopping.

Alright thanks guys. I'm not sure about the whole dual shackle set up anyways so I'll just run metal on metal for a bit and then decide whether to go new spring hangers or do the ifs bump stop, that looks like the way to go.
