My buddy has an 95 4-runner. It is all stock with 31 10.5 bfg's it is red with the tan int. it has teh 3.0 but it is blown up. what can he expect out of it? He has put 2 engines in it (a toyota shop each time) he is tired of fixing it. it is an auto 4x4. it is in GREAT shape. no dent or dings. like i said he is just tired of working on it.

if he puts an engine in so the buyer could drive it, then double that $ if not more depending on the buyer and how bad they want it

NADA - $4700

KBB - $5375

Are these realistic numbers?

I would say no especially if the buyer knows anything about toyotas.  3.0+auto= slug

He could list it for $1500, but looking at craigslist.com for Utah, $1500 seems too high.  Maybe list it for $1k, and take something above $750.  Non-running vehicles don't have much of a value, and those that due tend to be easier to repair.

With a working engine, he could likely list it for around $3500-4k(again based on craigslist numbers), and get around $3k for it.  However, if he can't get an engine/+ install for $2k or less, it isn't worth fixing.  He should just sell it for what he can get, or trade it for something he can use.

Do you know what is wrong, bad HG, burnt valve, rod knock, etc.  A bad HG or burnt valve shouldn't cost more than about $750 to do the work himself.  This '93FSM will work well for him if he is going to do the work himself.  It isn't as easy as a 22r(e), but not that hard either, just time consuming mapping everything out.

I wish that I would have snapped a pic of it (for proof), but two weeks ago I saw a pristine 1995 3.0 4Runner (dark blue) for sale on the used lot at Reynolds Toyota in San Francisco (3rd Avenue and Geary Blvd.)  They had printed out a dealer's window form and posted it inside the truck with all of its specs.  The 4Runner looked cherry, like grandma bought it new; then, she lost her license in '96, and it just sat in her garage 'til 2009.  Even the leather wasn't shiny or worn.  I think that it had less than 100,000 miles on it.  They were asking more than $9,000  :yikes: -- No Joke!!!  I was in total disbelief.

When I drove by on Friday, it was no longer on the lot. :headscratch:

So for your friend, I think a sales price for one of these trucks all depends on how it runs, looks, and who's buying (or I guess selling).  I'm thinking Al Pacino's character from Glengarry Glen Ross is only person who could have sold that thing for the price listed.

like i said this thing is NICE. very clean and very good tires. just he has had issues with the 3.0's in it. He just wants enough to cover what he missies on his truck. between 3 and 4k fixed
