Hello from Hot Springs AR
« on: Aug 25, 2009, 12:04:40 AM »
Building my first real offroad rig.(Non mall crawler) I have an 85 standard cab SWB that I'm dropping the drivetrain from a 96 4 Runner 3.4 Automatic with elocker into. I drive a wrecker for a living so i get to pick parts off a lot of junk that rolls through. I'm moving all the wiring and the dash over to the older truck. I'll be searching the forums regular as I build this thing I'm sure. Any advise offered is greatly appreciated. I hope to have this thing up and rolling in time for Toyota Takeover at the local Superlift ORV Park here in town next year. Need to show a couple friends that something besides a CJ can get there. I'll get a few pics up when I can,,,,that is after I steal my cam back from my son. Thanks for having me in the group. Hope to be here a long time.

We are about two hours from Atkins. I just got the truck to start lastnight. I have the motor, tranny, dash, and all the wire looking stuff in place. I still need to figure out what I'm gonna do about my front axle to get the pumpkin on the correct side before i order my springs. Not sure if I need to sell this axle and put the money towards a Dana 44 or if I want to try and cut the tubes and move the pumpkin over. Also, can anybody tell me if it's odd to have an 85 crawler with power lumbar seats and a factory CD changer? LOL. It's getting a lot of looks around the shop here. :hammer:
