why no 3'' lift??
« on: Aug 15, 2009, 10:13:33 PM »
am i crazy or did marlin used to sell a 3'' lift spring, and if so why no more? ive been looking into lift options and my understanding is that marlins 4" is really like 5 1/2'' and 4'' is my limit. im probobly gonna go with f150's or 63's and RUF to keep it low, im shootin for like 24'' from ground to frame with 35's.anyways i just thought it was weird it seems like alot of people would not want to exceed a 3 or 4'' lift.i know trail gear has a 3'' but ive heard so much bad about TG on this forum i dont know if i even want to go ther.

Just build your own..  24" on 35's is ridiculously easy to do..  I'm only an inch taller on 44's. :gap:
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

when NEW the Marlin 4 inchers will give more lift, but after they have broken in you'll have 4 inches,  F150's in the rear of a pickup give you 4 inches   thats what i have in the rear of my truck

i most likely will end up trying a custom suspension.i just wondered why marlin doesnt offer a 3 inch kit.it would make things alittle easier for inexperienced guys like me to have a kit available with set instructions and i am surprised that a 3 inch kit isnt in high demand, thats all.my concerns with custom suspensions is ending up with bad pinion angles, vibrations, uneven lift and mostly my lack of experience and spending more than the price of a kit to fix what i screw up .

Just buy the 4inch kit, it's all right there for you, it's the right parts and they have a world wide support group( IE US).. they will settle and you will like them I think.. Now if getting 3 inch's more tire clearance is all you want the just do a Body lift...A three inch body lift would leave your drive train and steerage/ Suspension stock.   If you do that get replacement urethane body bushings to replace the old rubber ones. they will make the truck feel and handle good with lift.     THe rubber body bushings from the factory rot out over time, and crack/break and have to be replaced over the life of the truck anyways.. The Urethane ones will not rot or crack..They also remove road and engine vibrations so that the ride is smoother... :yesnod:
