Nothing...  It was scrap I had laying around.  Well, ok I did have to buy the hole saw which was like $15.

Head to your nearest industrial fabrication shop, they will most likely point you to the scrap bin for free.

PLATE IT!!!!!!!!!!  I popped the tubes in there and ran 1 1/2 x 1/4" thick washers and it still tried to rip the tubes out of the frame.  Like I say, I have screwed everything up so you don't have to! :gap:

If done right even 1/8" would do the job.  It's just a matter of the sleeves being the right length.  Personally I drill a 1/2" hole all the way through the frame and then drill the outside with the larger size for the tube to pass through.  I slide the tubes in and put a few heavy tac welds on the edge of the tube holding it to the frame.  Then plate both sides, effectively trapping the sleeve in place between the plates.

You don't need any kit.  I use 1/2" schedule 40 pipe and 1/4" plate.  The pipe needs a 7/8" hole so you'll need that bit too.

Don't get lazy, drill the second hole and put the top pipe on top of the frame.

Do you have any pics of this
Those are some huge welds!
