lifting a 85 saf hilux help...
« on: Jun 22, 2009, 02:27:33 AM »
i have a 1985 toyota hilux with a solid axle front.. so far i found out that using the 54" ford f150 springs in the rear will give me about 4 inches of lift.. but what is best to use up front? I know people use the rear springs up front but i dont like the look of that and it moves the axle to far forward.. people say they used 44044 jeep willy lift spings up front.. and that gives u about 3-3.5 inches up front but it throws off ur pinion angle pretty good.. This is my real question.. i hear people saying they put ford f150 springs up front.. I'm tryin to fingure that one out.. i havnt come up with nothing other than people saying they done it.. i havnt found a fourm that says how to do it how its done what kind of flex they get or how much lift they get.. but if anyone knows the best/cheap way to lift the front and rear 4 inches with out having to order a 1600 dollar kit please let me know.. if anyone could help me with this please do.. i would like to know more ways to lift the front besides using the rear springs up front and the 44044 willy springs.. i would like to know more about the f150 springs being used all around on the hilux so someone please help me.

thanks

rob.

welcome to the site, please look around.... tons of info... you dont need a $1600 kit

you can get the springs themselves and a hangar pretty cheap... a lot depends on how much you are willing to modify....

my truck is lifted 4" with procomp lift springs, sure they arent flex monsters, but i got them from a friend for free, and bolted them on, no modifications to anything (other than extended brake lines, but i already had those)

you can get into hysteer, and relocating mounts, and new hangers, and so on.... or not... its up to you and your budget. i have never heard of people running the f150s up front... honestly, its really the same as running any other spring though, if you want a flex monster you will have to do some modifying, if you want a street queen, you may or may not, all depends
