Will these tires fit??
« on: May 31, 2009, 03:42:56 PM »
A question for the more experienced than I.
I have a stock 83 yota short bed with no lift yet. I need new tires and am considering BF Goodrich Radial M/T in 33/10.50/15. My question is, will I be able to turn lock to lock without rubbing? A 3" lift is in the not too distance future,  but I need to drive for awhile with stock lift. I was going with 31's but these 33's are so cheap I find it hard to pass up.
Thank you

you might rub a small amount but you'll be fine when you get the 3 inch lift on

You'll rub when turning and hitting small bumps, or by turning sharply.  I have 33x12.5 on my 80 with no lift right now and they rub too much for my liking, but you just need to be careful.

I was planning to do the same thing.  Are you planning to upgrade your birfields or leave them stock?

They will fit just fine if you put them on stock wheels.  if they rub at all it'll be the rear of the fenderwell and that's an easy fix by tubbing the floor.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

True, my enkeis do stick out a bit.

I don't plan on upgrading my birfs to run the 33s, but I'm realizing now I should have gone with 35s.  I'll start saving up for a better set of birfs after buying the 35s.  The truck does dog with the 33s, but I'm also running a weber and don't have it tuned correctly.

i have a 93 standard cab and i am running 33x12.50x15 on some really old American Racing Vectors that i refinished and i cranked the t-bars and just built some small shackles other than that just trimmed the body and almost zero rubbing. so im sure with a solid axle you can make it work.thats with the bed loaded down but you can see the trimmed fender and bumper

thats its normal stance.

so hey more power to you slam them on and make them fit

I have 33x 10.5 bfg mt's with stock steelies on my 85, no rubbing except on the pitman arm when i turn FULL lock to the right, usually needs to go up a bump to rub. they also rub on the bed a little but you probably have more tire clearance.

did you upgrade your birfields or they stock?  And what kind of gears are you running?
