R150f Go "BANG"
« on: May 27, 2009, 11:09:21 PM »
So my R150f has been popping out of first for awhile. It finally popped out the other day with a bang (in 2hi) and now the tranny just makes a lot of noise and the truck is a giant paperweight. Doesn't matter what gear I put it in or whether or not it's in 2wd or 4wd.

So, I'm just wondering what did I most likely break in the tranny. Tcases should be fine right? I have lined up another tranny to re and re but I  haven't had time to actually drop my tranny to confirm that it is fubared and won't have time to b4 I get the new one. Regardless I need a new tranny anyway but I was just wondering if something else could possibly be screwed.

Any insight appreciated.

I know this isn't much help but your prob going to have to start tearing it down to find out anything.

I know that Marlin has said that the middle bearing plate is the weak link in the R series trannys.  And that it will allow the gear shift to pop out of gear.  He has designed a new bearing plate to eliminate the popping out of gear!
