Ideal front axle width

Ok so I just ordered a cutome axle housing from FrontRange. "We're go'in ballistic man"  
SO is 61" wms to wms to wide, or just right?

Not always. Width of axle is dependant on how tall your vehicle is, and what type of terrain you plan on wheeling. If you are going to be doing mud running in large open fields, then wider is better. If you are going to be doing trails that fairly narrow, then wider isn't good.

My FJ80 is 63", and damn, with the 2" back space wheels it's really wide. But the that big ole 4runner body doesn't feel tipsy at all on those side hills.
