swap full width 44 for toyota front axle?

i'm in the middle of building up my wifes rig, and buddy has me talked into building a full width dana 44 to put into it.  i got the 44 yesterday out of an old plazer that is six lug and is complete hub to hub.  what do you guys think of this?  i read up a few other posts on guys doing this and the toy axle and d44 both seem to have their ups and down's.  any info or advice would be great.  i plan on leaving it full width also for more stability.  let me know what you guys think.

i like my 44. parts are cheap and available everywhere. sky manufacturing has a full width kit available which is cool also.

how does a 44 hold up compared to a toy axle?  i'll check out the sky kit.  thanks

id say they are comparable in strength (built up that is). i think the only thing youd really gain with the 44 is stability. if you look at most rigs that are wheeled pretty often/hard with toyota axles, the bodies on the trucks are more hammered. the width will give you that extra bit of protection to. ive been told to swap out my toy for a 44 but i think it would only be side stepping, not upgrading.

i think i'm going to do it.  i already have the d44, not sure if i'm going to run the toy rear with spacers or go 12 or 14 bolt in the rear.  i'm sure my wife will like the extra stability.  maybe if it turns out good i'll swap mine over too, we'll see though.

I'm going 14 bolt and 60 for the stability as well, the strength of that stuff won't hurt neither.
