dear tree: why did you fall on the tacoma?
« on: Sep 25, 2010, 08:01:57 PM »
tree fell. on the truck. and no i have no clue what im doing so until i find a cab im workin at attempting to fix a cab lol. two pics show it on its way home and second is the progress thus far. got the door strait so the glass goes up and down smoothly now matching the cab to the door. jacked up the bed and the wheel wells popped right back up so all im gonna need is bedsides but wouldnt mind a complete bed if i could find one. any tips or suggestions would be great. trying to figure out where i could split this thing and morph on a new section of can instead of replacing the whole thing but dont really know where they separate... not sure what i want to do with it yet. probably sell it. its a v6 5spd and runs great. body was perfect until this and interior still is perfect.

if i was rich and wasnt trying to buy a house i would go for it. not into registering and insuring 3 vehicles though. gotta get her fixed and sold most likely. not gonna part it out. someone might be able to talk me into buying it as a whole as it sits though.

just body. motor still runs perfect and ac blows cold. drives down the road strait and handles perfect. just has a little lumposis in the roof and bed and a broken side window. the inner fender will push our just fine and a new fender will fix everything in the front.

right now the plan is to scab on the front clip of the 96 onto the new cab and swap all the interior and wiring over as well... UNLESS.. someone wants to buy the 96 as it sits. id be willing to sell it as is. ive done the front clip stuff before and no its not too bad.. just a lot of time to make it just right. then comes the legality of vin numbers. i dont want it slavage so if i swap the whole cab then id have to swap the vin over or go get a salvage cert on it which defeats the purpose imo... it would make an awesome base for someone as a crawler givin the drivetrain is perfect and in all reality the cab now that its jacked out isnt horrific and someone with some patience could make it look good so if someone shot me a good offer id prob just get rid of it.

well after you're done i'd like to know what you plan on selling off the 99 or throwing away. i might be interested in some of the interior parts that you don't use. if any.
