All of the 88's I have seen did not have a speed sensor, they use a cable

Both should be gear operated correct?  Poss swap, or do I have to buy a new case and or tranny and case to make my speedo work?

If I remember there was something on pirate about someone taking the gear and shaft from a cable operated speedo and fitting it into a case that had a speed sensor .... (or the other way around  :dunno: ). I am sure you can make it work some how, but I do not know exactly what it would involve.... I would try looking around on pirate. I think it involved leaving the retaining clip off of the shaft for it to fit..... or you could swap out your speedo to an electronic one..... good luck.

Yes, they are interchangeable. Both chain drive electric and mechanical t/cases use the same driven gear teeth and will slip right into the 5 bolt rear housing.

I've already got the factory wire harness in place so I do not have too.  To start with you would need a wiring diagram. and or replacing the wiring harness.  You should probably start a new topic to get input from more experienced people than i and they could tell you if its worth it. obviously be more specific on what Toyota you have, motor, trans etc..
