Transmission questions
« on: Dec 28, 2008, 09:51:52 PM »
I have a few questions about Toyota transmissions. I have a 2rz engine swapped into my 94 Toyota. Has a W56 in it from a 85 Toy and the trans has bitten the dirt. I am trying to get the truck going right now for cheap and have two options. G52 or a guy has a G58 and tcase in my price range. I have done some searching but can't find any info on if the G58 will work. I know it isn't a great option but this is my dd and not my wheeling rig so I don't care about dual cases and what not. Also what are the pluses and minuses to the G52? Thanks for the help.

gone over this dozens of times. The G-series are one of weakest for one and if I recall right.. that trans won't bolt to the engine anyways.

you can use any W-series trans, jsut make sure it has the W58 (2/3RZ 5spd) Bellhousing.

My specific question is will the W58 bellhousing bolt to the G52 or G58 transmission? That is what I can't find, or do I need to just wait and find a W56?

Thanks it is really good to know. The only W56 I can find right now is $400 and I just got laid off for two months so I don't have a lot of money so we'll see. Thanks

no problem it,s probably worth it to spend a couple bucks now to get you by until you can get back to work and find a good w56 a little cheaper.

Well I am wondering if I should go with the G58 and Tcase for $100 or just a G52 that my friend has.

The G58 t/c is a 26 spline t/c if that helps you.

Well thanks for the help. Found a G52 to get me by for $50 so I will have to keep an eye out for a W56 now.

Well the trans is in with minor differences. Te only real problem is the shifter is father forward than the w56. Hopefully this transmission gets me by for a while.
