f150s or should i just run chevys
« on: Mar 11, 2009, 10:12:34 PM »
wonder what people think about the f150 leafs?
and
how much lift do they give?
what year should i get the leafs from?
2wd or 4wd leafs?
will they be good for a daily driver?
or should i just run Chevy's?

any info would be awsome thanks

Same deal as Chevy's but they're shorter. I have a pack from a 2wd, I think, waiting to go in.

4runner or pick-up? Year/style?

88-94 2wd f150
you want the 2wd because the spring is 2.5 in wide and the 4wd is 3in wide.
try and find a set out of a single cab because the ext cab ones have 4 leaves plus overload and i think that would be too much.

i just got my f150s out of an ext cab but im going to remove one of the leafs and possibly the overload. i have a bobbed bed with little weight so i dont want it too stiff.

i have leaves from a ex cab as well, late 80's,  i need to add a leaf in because they arent quite as tall as my 5 inch allpro front springs

F150's give you about 4 inches of lift

sorry for the thread hijack but i thought it would be better than making a new thread, i got my f150s from an extacab ford so theya are 4 leaf plus overload. my truck is an xtracab with a severily bobbed bed, a rather simple bumper and a inbed tool box, so not too much weight. should i remove one of the leafs and the over load or just one leaf, or just the overload?
or none at all.
sorry for hijack, just delete my post if its not cool.

I have the f150s from a 91 2wd, on my yota front and rear, and I got about 3 to 4 inch lift, used the top 2 toy then 3 of the f150s then the bottom toys. it drives fine for me. the only thing is you have to cut them to size. hope that helps.

please explain how you used f150s without welding, because from what ive read you need to move the front hanger forward 11 inchs.

I used the top 2 stock springs from the yota then cut the f150s down, then used the yota bottom springs. that why I did not have to move or weld anything, anythings bolts right up, I had to grand a little of the f150s by the u-bolts. I think I have pics will look for them. hope that helps.

And I bet you have a crap shackle angle. The more arch your spring has, the shorter the distance eye to eye they spring will have at ride height.

Here's what I did...

I'm running F150 springs from a 2wd ExCab - 90 or 91 year model.

I ended up moving the front hangers 4.5 inches forward of stock, and the rear hangers 3 inches back from stock. The springs are mounted with the short side forward just like they were mounted on the Ford. I'm also running the 4+Overload setup, and it rides and flexes great.

Here's how mine are sitting:

well for us that have bobbed beds we just have to run them reversed so that the short side faces the rear of the truck, the short side is nearly the same as the stock springs. thats how im gonna run mine.
