hey all, couple questions about wheels and lifts
« on: May 23, 2008, 08:31:24 PM »
I'm looking at some wheels from pro comp 15x8 (Rock Crawler Series 97) but i'm not sure which backspacing to get. There is one with a 4.5in and 3.75in. The tires I have now are pro comp xtreme a/t (31/10.50/15) on some wheels my buddy gave me. Will one of these backspacings stop any rubbing? b/c whichever one I have now when the wheel is turned all the way it hits the edge of the mud flaps.

Also, I'm wanting to do just a little lift like an Inch or 2. What would be my best way of going about that?

Thanks

First off, the year and model of your truck would help.

As for a small lift, a body lift would be inexpensive and very effective, and very easy to install. There is a very good write-up about an install on this board.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

changing backspacing may or may not stop any rub..... if you take away on the outside, it might rub on the inside

If you are running 31's just get shackles that should be enough. If you have an IFS front then just get shackles for the rear and crank you torsion bars in to match on the front.

You want the 3.75's. Anything between about 3.25 and 3.75 is what you want for a Toyota
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

3.50" on mine,83 SFA, 31" Bfg AT's no rubbing stock springs, I wish someone made a 2" spring to replace stockers and level it a bit. Downey is as close as I can find but at 3" it sits pretty high. Can't afford custom springs at the moment.

Old Man Emu (OME) makes a 2 inch front (and rear for that matter) spring

Measure your current wheels to see what the backspaceing is.

Here at Marlin we don't practice thread hi-jacking. Ask the question in your own post or this forum is equipped with a search feature where you can look things up.
Thanks for the ? though.
