89 landcruiser suspension what should I do?
« on: Jul 26, 2004, 11:48:32 AM »
Just got this truck and wanted to know whether I can find a lift kit below a grand.  If not maybe just a half inch of shackles and some replacement springs.  If I didnt change anything what are the largest tires I can run without rub (31x11.5)?

if you convert it to spring over axle, you'll get around 4" of lift without changing anything besides maybe spring plates, perches, and u-bolts

Wouldn't think it would be too bad if it were done right.

How about drivelines, brakelines, etc.?  It isn't just a simple mod like a lift kit.

either use traction bars or stiffer springs.  all minis were spring-over.

i figure steering wouldn't be too hard to work out since it's already crossover

I've heard that for a spring over, you may also need to use larger spring perches to help reduce wrap since you have a better connection between the springs and the axles. Later model cruisers may be different.
How is that 4.0 I6 on the power? It's an fj62 right?

best regards,
