petersons offroad mag. yay or nay
« on: Jul 08, 2004, 01:48:30 AM »
im looking at the case to the ulimate adventure 03. i thought about it and made me mad. there was that sweet toyota pickup with the taco fiberglass, and the only thing time u saw the rig was when it showed him holding his ifs steering box! i swear that petersons drives me nuts sometimes because all they cover is american vehicles. but now in the new issue they are installing marlin products on there new tacoma.  :smack: i dont know what to think

I think its better than most.  I used to get offroad (sucks) and 4wheel and sport utility (sucks) and I paid my subscription for that new rockcrawling mag that was advertised a while ago.  Hope thats better.  I used to also get hot rod, super chevy and car craft, but they always rehash the same stuff.

I believe they did a write-up about that white toy called "The Machine."  I have searched their website to see if they had the story in their "backissues" but it isn't on the site.  You could probably call them and get a copy of the old issue.  I know they had an article a couple months ago when they replaced the motor with an engine from LC Engineering.  The fab work on that truck is very nice.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I really think the Ultimate Adventure was cool.  I wanna copy it.  Go to the offroad parks in the southeast, all in a week.  Except maybe grey rock, its too expensive.

I would suggest going out and buying the August 2004 issue of Petersens.  There is a two page article about this years Petersens ultimate adventure truck.  Last year was the Avalanche, this year is a Taco, and Marlin did a dual case setup on it.  They talk about the dual case installation in the article, then they talk about the dynatrac axles that are going in it.  They are doing an sas front (obviously).  Anyways, this was the start of the buildup and next issue will be continuing the sas and then onto body armor and such.  If you only buy a few magazines this year make it Petersens for the next couple months.  They also have coverage on a calrocs event in Boulevardl, Cali and Moab '04.

I just got the last issue of my Petersens subscription. I let it run out cause its getting too gay. I like 4wd and sport utility better, yes theres a lot of Jeeps but a lot more Toys.

I used to have a subscription to 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility mag a long time ago, still will pick one up at the local market once and a while. I also noticed that most of these mags tend to ignore the Japanees vehicles, some only deal in super-lifted waste of imagination american pickups and suv's, so I quit buying them. I also find that thier tech sections were lacking probably due to size issues, then I found the internet where everyone is a tech and give out gobs of real world experience. :hahaha:
