Boggers vs Irok's....
« on: Feb 16, 2008, 04:48:57 PM »
Here is my question.  I have a set of 37x13 boggers, and a set of 36x13.5 iroks (both have an OD measurements are 36.8).  I just got both sets of tires, and are an upgrade from my 35 bfg mud terrains, so i have not had a chance to wheel either of them yet.  Also, both sets are mounted on 15x10 (alum rims with the boggers, and steel with the iroks), what tire pressure has worked for people, and around what psi can i expect to start popping beads.  Oh, i am in CT, and do good old new england wheeling, mud, rocks, muddy rocks, hill climbs with muddy rocks.....get the picture! :beerchug:

My 4runner has 5.29's, and dual cases with stock gearing in both, so i am not worried about turning these (just gotta save up and get the longfields, till then have to be easy on the skinny pedal).

Anyway, let me know what ya'all experiences have been with these tires.
Here is a pic of my 84 4runner with the boggers:

She is a bit ugly with out her front bumper (got ripped off last wheeling trip), but the tires are the story in this post

Here are a few with the front bumper almost done, no winch though, and the 35's.  They are from Rausch Creek in PA.

No pics with the iroks yet.....soon....

I upgraded from 35/12.50 bfg Muds to 37/13 Boggers and I really noticed the weight difference.  My tired 4cyl has a hard time using them for what they are designed for.  They do however grab great on rocks.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

What tire pressure do you run the boggers at?  Was it hard to break in the sidewalls?  I got mine used, so i am not sure how much wheeling was done with them, and if they were ever aired down.  What gears are you running on your truck?  I am hoping the 4cyl with my gearing set up still has enough to get the tires moving when i need them to be, b/c we get a lot of mud up here, and muddy rocks, where you need tire speed.

Thanks for the info!

I got mine almost new.  They were used for 1 mudrace.  I can run the rears with no pressure and they only buldge out a little.  I don't have beadlocks so I'm too scared to do that so I keep them at about 5psi.  the Fronts around 10.  If I had beadlocks I may run them lower.  I still don't think they are broken I yet because I switch between my bfg's and the boggers depending on where I'm wheeling and I don't ever run the boggers on the road.  I run 5.29s but my 22re has 255k and is 100% stock, even exhaust.  If I had it to do over again I may have gone with the 38/11 boggers, they're about 15lbs a piece lighter.

bomb around town with about 5psi in them. it will break them in. also dont over inflate them. you prolly dont want more than 20 psi in the tires

Thanks for all the input guys!  i think i will be trying them out at around 8-10 psi and see how they work.  I am going to run the boggers for a bit and see how i like them.  I am sure i will have some wheeling pics up soon enough!

Thanks again all!
