Axle is kicking my...

Try to complete a reseal of my knuckles.  This is the second time I've done this with no problems the first.  I've searched on this board and read and re-read 4crawler's info on the topic.  The passenger side was a breeze, but on the driver's side I'm trying to put the outer snap ring on, just out side the hub body.  Problem is that the axle doesn't extend far enough to get the ring in the groove.  I know many people's first thought is that I didn't thread a bolt into the end of the axle and pull it out, but I did.  I've literally been stuck on this for at least 5 hours.  I've taken everything apart to knuckle a dozen times, figuring that the spindle was not aligned with the knuckle.  I made sure that the inner oil seal in the rotor is all the in properly.  All old gasket material has been removed and all bolts torqued properly.  Is there any way my knuckle could be 1/4" farther out than it was?  I can't figure out how.  Anyway, if anyone's got any ideas or similar experience, I'm open to anything right now!  Thanks. :rivers:

did you replace wheel bearings during this service? my guess is you didnt fully seat the inner race/bearing in the hub.

KYOTA, thanks soooooo much.  Don't know why I didn't think of that during the hours I spent on it yesterday.  But I pulled the oil seal from inside the rotor and tapped the race all the way down and voila!  Thanks again.
