delivery service in the works for west coast
« on: Jul 15, 2004, 03:16:40 PM »
i thinking of buying a truck and trailer soon and had a idea that might help all of us out for parts shipping i,m always chasing parts for people that don't have time or don,t want to pay the crazy shipping prices on heavy stuff but for a flat fee i could deliver the parts much cheaper than ups/fedex can with a truck and trailer and am willing to cruise up and down the west coast. it's a idea i,m kicking around to help out everyone and me at a price anyone can afford let me know if anybody might have an interest in this. Cause of right know i,m just doing some homework and to see if it sparks a interest in anyone heres my email address if you wanna email me lukewalker9@msn.com i'll be able to haul almost everthing but complete rigs with a load complete rigs empty though :driving:

well if i buy it it will be a 97 crew cab powerstroke and i have a enclosed trailer but the truck comes with a 18 foot flatbed i thought it might be i good idea to just help out all the 4x4 guys on the west coast and maybe more depending on how much a interest it sparks i know i hate paying those crazy shipping costs for things especilly when someone is
totally overcharging you for shipping and then they just ship it at their convenience so it take 3 weeks to get the part i don,t know bout all ya'll but i got very little patience when it come to waiting for things

i havent totally got all the figuring out but basically my truck will haul like anything i can throw on it so i,m thinking of a combination of fuel and milege probabbly don,t know yet havent done the math yet. i figure it take 20 hours to get from where i live to san deigo and about 8 hours or so to the canadian border so my figures might vary to southern cali but please more responses and questions  :driving:

My pops does that sort of deal but he hauls rv's.  As soon as you get a buisness license to make it a legit enterprise you are under the governments control.  no more than 10 hours or 600 miles. You are as of Jan 1st allowed to be "on duty" for 12 hours per day.  Its a really screwy system Ill talk to him about it some time next week when he's back in the area.  And get you some real specifics.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

I wouldnt think that the same rules would apply to a professional driver with a CDL and log books and to a guy just pulling a trailer up and down the highway :dunno:  BTW thanks for deal on the spare Luke
