22re 911
« on: Aug 16, 2009, 07:43:04 PM »
I just swapped a "new" cab on my 83 pickup (22re swap) a couple weeks ago, and it had started and ran fine several times moving it in and out of the garage.  well my POS daily driver Jeep I bought a few weeks ago took a :pokinit: on me so I thought I'd finish the truck up this weekend and drive it to work.  Well was doing the finishing touches on it and put the guage cluster in and went to start it and the charge light came on for 2 seconds and the fusable link popped.  I'm at a loss to what it could be.  I was gonna pull it into the garage to finish up the last couple things to get me to work in 8 hours.  Now I gotta do some diggin to see if I have another fusable link layin around. Help

Make sure you double check the ground wires from the cab to frame, engine block to frame, etc.

10 miles to work.  Got a ride to work but have to go in an hour earlier :(  ive been running the 22re alt for a couple years and havent had any problems.????  Grounds are goos.... seems like the problem happened after i put the cluster in because it has been going good moving it around.

What year is your new cab?  Is the cluster from the new cab / new wiring harness?  You put an EFI cab on an 83 frame right?  I put a 94 EFI cab on my 83 frame after a rollover...

the new cab is from an 80.  All that was replaced was sheet metal.  Everything else was from the original swap from an 88 pickup.  Going out to trace wires in the daylight now... BBL
