Need the lentghs of stock Toyota 1pc. drivelines.
« on: Jul 23, 2007, 11:52:24 PM »
I am doing dual cases on my '91 22re X-cab.  I currently have the 2pc d-line, and it sounds like I can't/should'nt use the 2pc w/dual cases.  A tech at Marlin said he thinks there may be stock 1 pc d-lines I can use.  I will be running about 3" of spring lift in the rear, if this helps any.

There are a few different d-lines. Measure the distance from the t-case output flange to the diff flange so you know what length your looking for. Then post in the Parts Wanted or have one made. I know when I lifted my 87 4Runner 4cly 5 speed about 7" my stock d-line was just long enough for the street but no flex. I have a 88 V6 automatic d-line in the now & don't have any problems. Good luck finding one  :crossed:

I have an 87 Extracab that is an automatic. The rear driveshaft measures 52" compressed. The 5spd extracab driveshaft that I have that was too long to use measured 53.5" compressed.

I can tell you that an 84 std cab shortbed shaft will have about 1" of engagement at ride height  in an 84 XtraCab with an MC Dual Case setup and with around 5" of lift. I have no measurements, unless you want one from the new rear shaft I built.

that said, every truck is different.

Thanks for the replies.  The current distance(pinion to flange) on my '91 is 63.5" w/only 1.5" shackle lift.  With the dual cases I am looking at about 57" right now, more after I finish the rear lift.  From the few I was able to measure at the wrecking yard they are a few inches short.

Since I haven't found a definitive reason for not running the 2pc, I think I am going to cut them down first and see how they run. I think the most likely reason why most don't run the 2pc and dual cases is that they have already replaced the d-line by the time they get around to running the dual cases.

just remember if you lift it, you have to lower the carrier bearing to keep the angle from killing it and vibrating like a mofo.
