New California Traffic Laws for 7-1-07

New California Laws effective 7/1/07 & New Driving Fines for 2007

1. Carpool lane - 1st time $1068.50 starting 7/1/07. 2nd time is double. 3rd time triple, and 4th time = license suspension.
 
2. Incorrect lane change - $380. Don't cross the lane on solid lines or intersections.
 
3. Block intersection - $485
 
4. Driving on the shoulder - $450
 
6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts - both passengers and drivers get tickets .

7. As of 07/01/07 cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.
Ticket is $285.  Cell phone use in the construction zone = Double fine. :hammer:

Toward the end of last year they said the cell phone bill wouldn't be able to go into effect until some time in 08, even if it were passed right now.

i like the cell phone law .. some people just can't drive .. on top of that they re on the phone

I say more fund raising for the state through higher $$ traffic law enforcement, and less taxes on goods and services.

I agree. I used to think if someone was all over the place and driving like a moron that they were either drunk or just plain stupid. Now its changed and I know that they are drunk, stupid and talking on a cell phone. I have even seen a few chicks driving, talking and looking in the mirror and freakin' with their hair while driving. That was scary.  :yikes:

Yeah, I have been hearing about this supposed cell phone law for a while though, I'm sure it will happen eventually. I think some states have already passed it.  :dunno:
